The people of the
kampung or villages are
enjoying the benefits of progress and modernisation, but fortunately, some of the older
ways are still to be found.
Craft, traditional music and dance, along with their
accompaniments, are still cultivated among cultural groups and associations set up
specially to ensure that tradition does not die with the advent of industrial life.
Began Datoh folks of the Hilir Perak District are also known to favour some forms of traditional
dance, amongst which the tarian dabus ranks high in popularity.
The Bagan Datoh area is unique in the sense that it has a number of
local cultural aspects that are not found in many other districts in
Perak.
