meets the Sea |
|
|
Hilir Perak is a region you shouldn't miss while in
Perak.
This is the district where the mighty Perak River meets the open sea
of the Straits of Malacca.
Among the many interesting places
to visit are Teluk Intan, the administrative centre of the district,
rich in local and colonial history.
Then there's the famous
Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, Malaysia's own equivalent to the
world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, a pagoda-style
structure which is a timeless masterpiece.
The World War I Memorial, a giant boulder, stands at the main road
entrance to Teluk Intan.
The Teluk Intan Boatyards bear
testimony to the boat building skills of the people of Perak.
The estuarine village of Bagan Datoh with its picturesque
countryside is the heart of Perak's coconut country.
Beting
Beras Basah, an important venue for the installation ceremonies of
Perak Sultans, and Hutan Mlintang, famous for its prawns and boat
building industry. |
