Kerian
District boasts the largest mangrove swamp area in the State
of Perak. It harbours a variety of birds and animals
that are unique to this region.
Pulau Kalumpang, an island located in the area, is reputed to
have the most picturesque mangrove swamp in the world.
One famous species found in
this area is the Burung Kuang, an attractive bird that nests in the
lower branches of the mangrove trees.
